We had gone for a walk around the neighborhood. I had my camera in my pocket even though I didn't really expect to see anything worth taking a picture of. Not much goes on in our neighborhood.
But as we were passing this neighbors yard I noticed this chunky squirrel nomming away on some peanuts the person had put on a pic-nick table in their yard.
In the end I took the risk of being branded a stalker, and I'm happy I did. The peanut loving squirrel was so into his nuts that he didn't even THINK about scurrying up a tree. And if the neighbors noticed me taking photos over their fence they must have realized it was because of this fellow.
My little friend there is a common creature where I live. In fact, a lot of people call the grey squirrel a nuisance. They get into bird feeders, and steal food right out of peoples gardens. That can get into attics and build nests. When they do that not only do they make a lot of noise, but they can chew wires and such too.
Personally I think they are cute, and I find it a shame that a lot of them get run over and left in the streets.
This little fellow was nomming his peanuts, but many times they will dash back and forth across the road, unsure which way to go. And since there are so many squirrels out there, most drivers don't stop and wait for them to make up their minds!
Rest assured, we stop for the little darlings:

I think they are a bit cute too, but my girls love them. There are no squirrels in New Zealand, so they are really excited when we see them overseas.
ReplyDeleteNo squirrels! Oh, the horror! Glad they can enjoy them when they travel though.
DeleteSquirrels are everywhere here. I love them.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Wordless Wednesday!
They can be quite prolific. Especially if the food is plentiful.
DeleteHe's adorable.
ReplyDeleteSo many people think of squirrels as pests, but I love 'em. They're so entertaining to watch!
Thanks for capturing this little guy with your camera, and please come share your photo at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2015/03/flying-high.html
They are very fun to watch. Really fun when they start playing.
DeleteCute little guy! They can be a nuisance though especially when they dig up my bulbs and plant them elsewhere for me. I never know where my tulips and daffodils are going to come up.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, they give you a flowery surprise.
DeleteI do love looking at squirrels
ReplyDeleteThey can be fun to watch, and are cute even if they are just sitting there.
DeleteIt's good you relented and became a squirrel stalker! Great photos, even through the chain link fence.
ReplyDeleteWe have so many oak trees here and they are filled with squirrels! Thankfully, my dog pays no attention to them at all.
Good thing! I'd hate to have Valentino stuck in a tree going after a squirrel!
DeleteSo cute! They're fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteIt's cute.. Squirrel must have been so engrossed in eating, didn't notice you clicking it's photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Tots and Me last week. Sorry it took me so long to stop by.
ReplyDeleteHave to say, this reminded me of when my father and I would feed the squirrels on our way home from school. I loved doing that.
